Farm Status of The Lavender Farm at Chateau de Vie:
- November 30, 2023 the Farmer’s Roadside Stand at The Lavender Farm at Chateau de Vie opened to the public in the existing building of roughly 1,000 square feet next to the lake on the property.
- The property at 1220 N Kyrene Rd Chandler, AZ 85226 known as Chateau de Vie (Parcel 301-60-005Z) is zoned AG-1. On October 5, 2023 the USDA issued a letter that "this office has recently completed the creation of your new farm number 10457 (Letter and abbreviated farm record attached).
- The Lavender Farm at Chateau de Vie LLC was organized on October 2, 2023 and was approved as an Arizona entity on October 4, 2023. The Lavender Farm at Chateau de Vie LLC rents the entirety of the property at 1220 N Kyrene Rd Chandler, AZ 85226 NGSG 2020 Living Trust as of May 26, 2023.
- On May 27, 2023 the first lavender plants were planted at the property.
A major component of the restoration at The Lavender Farm is continuing the heritage of the agricultural (AG-1 zoning it has had since incorporation to the City of Chandler) character of the property. Sadly 40 full-sized pine and 800 citrus trees had to be cut down in 2010 due to the neglect during the foreclosure process. Other trees have been lost since.
Crops currently being cultivated:
* Citrus
* 100s of Sour Orange Trees already existing on the property – used to make essential oil for products
* Wood chips sold made from orange tees cut down due to natural causes (used for smokers)
* About 100 Citrus trees planted in November 2023 – orange, grapefruit, lemon, and lime
* Hibiscus
* Use existing hibiscus to make essential oil for products
* Honey
* Honey and wax used in products
* Honeysuckle
* Use existing honeysuckle to make essential oil for products
* Lavender
* Over 500 lavender plants planted in 2023 starting in May.
* Over 800 lavender pants are being planted in Spring of 2024
* Pine
* Use existing pine to make essential oil for products
* Firewood sold from trees that are cut down due to natural causes
* Pinecones used in fire starters and sold as decoration and room fresheners
* Rose
* Use existing roses to make essential oil and rose water for products
* 80 additional rose bushes planted in February 2024

* ARTICLE II. – DEFINITIONS
* 35-200. – Definitions
* Farmer's roadside stand: Any building or structure used for the sale of articles grown or produced on the property.
* Farming: Commercial agricultural uses in general and especially crop, dairy, stock and poultry farming; commercial greenhouses on three (3) acres or more.
* ARTICLE IV. – AG-1 – AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT
* 35-400. – Purpose.
* The purpose of this district is to provide for agricultural areas within the City and to protect and conserve these areas within and adjacent to urban development. The regulations of this district are designed to protect, stabilize and enhance the development of agricultural resources and to prohibit those activities which would adversely affect the urban-rural characteristics of this district.
* 35-401. – Uses permitted.
* (2) Field crops such as cotton, grain, vegetables, fruit trees, flowers.
* (5) Farm roadside stand.
